It can be considered, but the minimum pressure, vacuum condition and resistance to inward collapse must be confirmed. A joint selected only for positive-pressure service should not automatically be used on the suction side.

?Can a rubber expansion joint eliminate water hammer?

No. A rubber joint provides flexibility and vibration isolation but is not a stand-alone water-hammer protection device. Surge risks require appropriate valve control, pressure-management equipment, air management and system design.

?Are control rods required for every single sphere rubber joint?

Not always. Their need depends on working pressure, axial thrust, pipe anchors, allowable equipment loads, expected movement and pullout risk.

?Can a rubber expansion joint support pipe or valve weight?

No. Pipes, valves and equipment must be supported independently by suitable supports, hangers or foundations. A rubber expansion joint should not be used as a load-bearing component.

?How should the rubber material be selected?
