Custom Fabricated Pipe Fittings Overview

Custom fabricated pipe fittings are non-standard piping components manufactured according to customer drawings, connection dimensions, operating conditions and site-installation requirements.

They are intended for industrial projects where standard elbows, tees, reducers, flanges and conventional pipe fittings cannot meet the required geometry, connection arrangement, material or installation space.

Custom fittings can change piping direction, connect different diameters, create branch connections, adapt special equipment nozzles, replace existing non-standard components or provide transitions between different piping systems. Products can be developed from two-dimensional drawings, three-dimensional models, samples, site photographs or verified field dimensions.

Available Custom Products

  • Non-standard elbows, bends and specially formed fittings
  • Concentric, eccentric and multi-stage reducers
  • Custom tees, lateral tees, branch fittings and outlet connections
  • Transition pieces, adapters and special equipment connections
  • Special flanges, flanged pipe sections and custom drilling patterns
  • Fabricated pipe spools and welded piping assemblies
  • Replacement fittings for retrofit and maintenance projects
  • Other drawing-based non-standard piping components

Key Features

  • Manufactured from drawings, samples or verified site dimensions
  • Suitable for special interfaces and restricted installation spaces
  • Custom diameters, wall thicknesses, angles and structural arrangements
  • Welded, flanged, grooved, threaded or combined connection options
  • Available in carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel and specified materials
  • Suitable for new projects, equipment packages, replacement and retrofit work
  • Inspection, marking, packaging and export documentation can be order-specific

Construction and Manufacturing

Depending on the fitting geometry and project requirements, products can be manufactured through forging, casting, plate forming, pipe cutting, hot or cold forming, machining, welding or a combination of fabrication methods.

The manufacturing method should be selected according to nominal size, wall thickness, design pressure, operating temperature, material, product geometry and order quantity.

For welded constructions, weld configuration, welding procedure, bevel dimensions, dimensional tolerances and required nondestructive examination can be confirmed during the drawing-review stage. Machined connections can be produced to specified sealing faces, threads, flange drilling patterns and equipment-interface dimensions.

Material Options

Materials should be selected according to the process medium, design pressure, operating temperature, corrosion conditions and applicable project requirements.

  • Carbon steel for general water, steam, heating and industrial services
  • Stainless steel for corrosion resistance, cleanliness or temperature requirements
  • Alloy steel for selected high-temperature or higher-pressure services
  • Other specified materials subject to compatibility and manufacturing review

Final material grade, wall thickness and corrosion allowance are subject to the customer specification, design conditions and approved manufacturing drawing.

Connection Options

Custom fittings can be supplied with butt-weld, socket-weld, flanged, grooved, threaded or combined connections. Different connection types can also be used at opposite ends to support retrofit projects, standard conversion or transitions between piping and equipment.

Typical Applications

  • Water treatment, water supply and municipal piping projects
  • District-heating, steam and industrial circulation pipelines
  • Petrochemical, power, metallurgical and energy facilities
  • Pump, valve, vessel and heat-exchanger connections
  • Pipeline replacement, equipment upgrades and site retrofit projects
  • Industrial installations with complex routing or limited space

Quality and Inspection

Inspection requirements depend on the product structure and purchase specification. Typical checks can include material verification, visual inspection, dimensional inspection, flange drilling and connection checks, weld or assembly inspection and final packaging inspection.

Where required, additional nondestructive examination, pressure testing, leak testing, material certificates, dimensional reports or other project-specific inspections can be agreed before production.

Customization Process

  1. Submit drawings, models, samples, dimensions or site photographs
  2. Confirm medium, pressure, temperature, material and connection standards
  3. Review structural and manufacturing feasibility
  4. Approve technical drawings, quotation, inspection and packaging requirements
  5. Proceed with material preparation, production, inspection and export packing

Information Required for Quotation

Please provide the following information so that the custom fitting and quotation can be properly evaluated:

  • Product drawing, 3D model, sample or site photograph
  • Nominal diameter, pipe outside diameter and wall thickness
  • Overall dimensions, angles and connection positions
  • Design pressure and operating pressure
  • Design temperature and operating temperature
  • Process medium and corrosion requirements
  • Material grade and corrosion allowance
  • Flange, weld-end, thread or other connection standards
  • Dimensional tolerance, inspection and documentation requirements
  • Quantity, packaging requirements and destination port

If a complete drawing is not yet available, site photographs, critical dimensions, the original product nameplate and operating conditions can be provided for preliminary review. Final construction, dimensions, materials, manufacturing method and inspection requirements are subject to the approved technical specification and manufacturing drawing.
